The Resume Success Formula
Your resume’s job is to get interviews. Here's how to
make sure it passes filters and grabs attention fast.
I've been on the other side of the table.
I'm Andrea, founder of Kantan HQ. As a former VP in tech and Director of Project Management, I've built teams, partnered with recruiters, and made final hiring decisions. I've reviewed hundreds of resumes and I know exactly what makes a hiring manager stop scrolling and say "let's bring this person in."

The process isn't always fair so I built Kantan HQ to give job seekers the same insider knowledge that hiring managers already have.

The Formula

ATS Friendly Formatting
Most resumes are never seen by a human. Make sure your resume makes the cut:
-
Use a single-column format. Multi-column layouts confuse ATS software and often get misread.
-
Avoid icons, graphics, and design elements. They look great but they can cause ATS to misread or skip your information entirely.
Scannability
Think of your resume as your 10 second highlight reel. Here's how to make the most important info stand out:
-
Include a concise 2-3 sentence summary at the top, especially if you're applying for a senior level role, transitioning careers or took a career break. Do not make it so long that it pushes down your experience section.
-
Put your Education info at the bottom unless you graduated within the last 2 years.
-
Keep all information for each company together instead of having achievements or other information separate.

Work Experience

This is the most important part of your resume. Here are the rules to follow:
-
Only include work experience that are relevant to the role(s) you're applying for.
-
Move older roles to a separate "Additional Work Experience" section.
-
Expand on the most recent and relevant roles and keep details on the older roles concise.
-
Lead with impact. Quickly show your achievements, what you owned, and how you brought value.
-
Include quantifiable achievements. Proof is in the numbers.
Keyword Inclusion
Resumes are scanned for specific keywords by ATS and recruiters.
-
Identify and add key phrases, skills, and qualifications mentioned multiple times in the job posting.
-
Incorporate keywords naturally in a categozied skills section and in your work experience

Stop Getting Ignored
You don't have to stay invisible in the job market. With the right job search strategy, resume, and LinkedIn profile, you will get noticed by recruiters and land more interviews
